Extended Rankings represent the simplest procedure for ranking each of the candidates/alternatives in an election. Regardless of the particular voting method, the idea behind Extended Rankings is the same:
For instance, in a Borda Count election, Extended Rankings would give first place to the candidate with the largest Borda Count total, second place to the candidate with the second largest Borda Count total, and so on, with last place going to the candidate with the smallest Borda Count total. Similarly, in a Plurality with Elimination election, Extended Rankings would give first place to the candidate remaining after all the others were eliminated, second place to the next-to-last candidate eliminated, and so on, with last place going to the first candidate eliminated.
